The 2013 Easter Season at Knox


Palm Sunday: March 24th

An uplifting service where we remember the last days of Christ.

The Youth Choir of Knox will process into the sanctuary with palms, accompanied by the Senior Choir and the Hand bells, singing “Hosanna in the Highest.”

Rev. Dr. Grant Dawson will speak on the theme of Christ’s Table and the choirs will also sing “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.”

Congregants are invited to join their voices for familiar Palm Sunday Hymns accompanied by our Instrumental Ensemble.

The reflection continues with the lovely organ postlude “Lift up ye heads O ye Gates” by Alexander Guilmant.


Maundy Thursday, March 28

Maundy Thursday potluck meal, communion and labyrinth will begin at 6:00 pm. Please sign up at coffee on Palm Sunday or contact the church office if you’re planning to attend and/or can help with setup and clean up.

Good Friday, March 29

The downtown United Churches celebrate together at Central United Church. 131, 7th Avenue SW. Service starts at 10:30 am.



Easter Sunday: March 31st, 2013

A joyous celebration of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  You are invited to join the Rev. Dr. Grant Dawson and the congregation of Knox United as we respond together to The Call of Easter.

The Senior and Youth Choirs will be joined by a full Brass Ensemble to perform anthems and everyone is invited to sing along to familiar Easter hymns including “Jesus Christ is Risen Today” and “Lord of the Dance.”

Bring your scores and let us all raise our voices together to finish the service with Handel’s exhilarating “Hallelujah Chorus!”

This will be followed by Widor’s “Toccata” from the 5th Symphony being played as a postlude on the magnificent Casavant organ.
