Psalm 118:24. This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
I am delighted and inspired by choosing this verse. It is my favourite passage and I love reciting it before starting my morning prayers. As a result, I am strengthened and renewed to move on to the next day of my life.
This passage is not only addressed to me, but also to everyone who accepts God’s grace and blessings for us to go through the day joyfully.
A friend gave me this book, entitled “Quiet moment with God” (anonymous author). It is here that I discovered something that is related to this passage, mentioning the simple instruction enjoying the day that the Lord has made. Taken from the Old English Prayer I quote:
Take time to work, it is the price of success.
Take time to think, it is the source of power.
Take time to play, it is the secret of perpetual youth.
Take time to read, it is the foundation of wisdom.
Take time to be friendly, it is the road to happiness.
Take time to dream. It is hitching your wagon to a star.
Take time to love, it is the privilege of the gods.
Take time to look around, it is too short a day to be selfish.
Take time to laugh, it is the music of the soul.
A priest saw a little boy sitting on his porch. Joyously he asked, “Son what can I do for you?” The little boy sadly responded, “I need food to eat.” The Priest went to the kitchen and prepared the food and gave it to him. Smiling he said, “Go ahead eat your food.” The little boy looked seriously at him and said, “Sir, can I have some for my little brother?” Joyously he told him, “Sure you’ll have food for your brother.”
In Psalm 32:11, the Psalmist wrote, “So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey him! Shout for joy all you whose hearts are pure.” ♥
