Lenten Reflection for April 1

Scripture: Psalm 31:9-16

David is crying out to the Lord his lamentation of suffering and sorrow—in both body and soul.  In the psalm he is expressing great pain, shame and fear.  He is also suffering abuse from his neighbours and his enemies alike.

These are things that we all endure at times in our lives.

Yet he, as may we, trust in and pray to the Lord for divine refuge, solace, comfort and care.  Let thy face shine on thy servant, save me in thy steadfast love.

By Dave Smith

O Lord, I cry out to you in pain, shame and fear.  And yet I, like David, will cling to your steadfast love and will find refuge in your sheltering arms.   AMEN
