Scripture: Psalm 111

Praise the Lord!
I will extol the Lord with all my heart,
in the council of the upright and in the assembly.

Great are the works of the Lord;
They are pondered by all who delight in them.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
All who follow his precepts have good understanding.
To him belongs eternal praise.

This is a psalm of praise, written by an unknown author who stands in awe of God.  As I read the psalm over and over, I went back and forth as to its meaning for me.

In the end, I believe that it refers to God standing by his people—through thick and thin, kind of like my best friend.

O God, I do not fear you.  I stand in awe of you.  I am uplifted by the knowledge that you stand by me, through thick and thin.  Thanks for being my best friend.     AMEN
