Scripture: Genesis 1:1-5
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Now the earth was formless and empty,
Darkness was over the surface of the deep,
And the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,”
and there was light.
God saw that the light was good,
and he separated the light from the darkness.
God called the light “day”
And the darkness he called “night.”
And there was evening, and there was morning,
The first day.
In order for human beings to accept God, humanity has to assume that God exists. To assume his existence, humanity acknowledges a personal relationship with God. In that relationship, God’s gift is unconditional love and grace.

Creating God, you tossed the stars into the sky and set the planets in their orbit. Your creative breath swept over the waters of the deep and you created our beautiful planet. Above all, you offered us your unconditional love and grace. Thanks be to you, O God, for the gifts you have given to us through the wonders of creation. AMEN
